The i8's powertrain took top honors for the best new engine and the best engine between 1.4L and 1.8L, and it almost beat Tesla's Model S powertrain for best green engine on its way to the overall win.

The i8's 1.5-liter, 3-cylinder, 357 hp (362PS) hybrid powertrain beat Ferrari, Tesla, McLaren, and others to the top award, determined by a panel of international automotive journalists.

Practic, masina are 2 propulsoare, unul cu ardere interna supraalimentat de 1.5l si 231hp (woohoo!, 154hp/l ) suplimentat de cel electric de 132 cai.

E interesant, pentru ca e hybrid, nu e ca tesla, dar... Cum toti sunt subiectivi, pana la urma a luat el "overall winner".

Fun fact: Porsche 918 (celalalt sport hybrid german) a iesit saptamana asta din productie (s-au construit 918 exemplare, ). Costa peste 700.000E, acceleratie 0-100km/h in 2.6secunde, si undeva la 6-700 cai. Bmw-ul are cam jumatate din puterea lui, dar pretul e aproape de 7 ori mai mic. Plus de asta, arata si mai bine ~ just my 2 cents
